In her mission report to El Salvador, the Special Rapporteur on Violence against women expressed concern about humiliating anal and vaginal body searches conducted by unqualified persons, including personnel without medical training, on both female inmates and women visiting places of detention (<strong>A\/HRC\/17\/26\/Add.2<\/strong>). In Kyrgyzstan abuse and torture in police custody and detention facilities were not uncommon according to many interlocutors interviewed during the visit. The time of highest risk of ill-treatment was immediately after arrest and during the investigation period. Beating was the most common form of violence alleged in detention, but other forms of violence against women by State authorities were also mentioned during the mission, including burning with cigarettes, beating of the feet, isolation, death threats and sexual violence (<strong>A\/HRC14\/22\/Add.2<\/strong>).
